Cincinnati, OH – On Saturday, September 17th, 2000 participants will converge in downtown Cincinnati for a relaunch of the Hudepohl 14K Brewery Run. This historic footrace and the city's original "party where a run happened to break out” is back for its tenth running after an extended vacation.

The NFL Hall of Fame Preseason Game between the Chicago Bears and St Louis Rams on August 7th was cancelled due to the late start of the pre season conditioning due to the NFL lockout. However, the ten day Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinements Festival was a go with the 26th annual 5 mile race (part of the RUNOHIO Grand Prix)
The News Herald JohnnyCake Jog billed as Ohio’s Finest 5 Miler has been a who’s who in Ohio running. Most of Ohio top runners have participated in the race over the 35 year history. Jessica (Kuhr) Odorcic won the race four times, three time winners include Ted Rupe, John Scherer, Michelle Rupe, Mary Jean Wright, two time winners include, Brian Carlton, Fred Kieser, Matt Folk, Carl Leonard, Patrick Savacool, Rachel Sauder, Mindy Schmidt, Debbie Kilpatrick Morris, Cindy Anzalone, and Ann Henderson. Other runners of note who have won the race include: Roosevelt Jackson, Dave Brehmer, Paul Talkinton, Chris Rupe, Jim Jurcevich, Scott Wenger, Keith Gorby, John Hopple, Rick Ventura, Lyndsi Benedict, Maureen Cogan, Cyndie Welte, Kelly Spatz, Terri Lemke, Anjanette Arabian, Peggy Fortune and Ann Gorman.

Ric Sayre, former Ohioan and Ashland, Oregon resident, one of only two American males to qualify for five Olympic Trials in the marathon, passed away Tuesday morning. Ric was 57. Reports say he went for a run in the morning, was talking to some neighbors afterward and without warning, collapsed and died.
The Watterson/Whetstone Cross Country & Track Alumni Fun Run is open to all alumni and current students of both schools, their families and friends, as well as members of the Clintonville community. The race will start and finish at Whetstone High School and loop around the cross-country course by the school and the Park of Roses.

The latest HS whiz distance runner, Lukas Versbicas became the fifth HS runner to break 4 minutes in the mile this spring. One of the other four, Tim Danielson, was recently arrested for killing his wife.
USATF Outdoor Track and Field Championships will be held June 23rd – 26th in Eugene, Oregon.
