KEEPING TRACK

Written by Rod O’Donnell on 23 October 2011.

Local businessman Ron Clutter’s dream of establishing a world-class training site is now a reality. Words cannot capture the true picture; it requires a visit and a tour to comprehend and appreciate Clutter’s accomplishment.

on 10 October 2011.

dayton-11

Dayton  October 9 - A nice pack of six runners hit the first mile of the 35th annual Dayton River Corridor Half Marathon in just over five minutes.  The runners would exit the road at the mile and half mile mark and enter the River Corridor Bike Trail along the Great Miami River.  The runners would exit the bike trail with about a half mile to go before finishing in front of the University of Dayton Arena.  2009 winner Julius Kiptoo from Kenya living in Toledo took home the top prize money award as he hit the finish line in 1:08:55.  Former University of Dayton cross country standout Matt Lemon finished a close second in 1:08:59.  Kettering’s Joshua Laughlin (1:10:50) drafted off of 2008 winner Josh Ordway (1:10:52) until fifty meters to go before outsprinting Ordway of Bellbrook to take home the bronze.

The Athlete’s Kitchen - Protein and Athletes

on 26 September 2011.

NancyNancy Clark MS RD CSSD - Protein is a hot topic among athletes of all sports. They want to know how much protein they need, when they should eat it, what's the best kind of protein, and if they should buy sports drinks with protein. The purpose of this article to answer some of these questions and leave you with this message: While adequate protein is important in your sports diet, protein should take it’s place as the accompaniment to carbs (grains, fruits, vegetables) in each meal and snack.
