The fall is a great time for running as the humidity disappears, the temperature become ideal and the fall foliage makes for an enjoyable run. I hope that you are able to keep up your training and run a somewhat normal race or a virtual run this fall. Stay healthy and I hope to see you at a race soon.

KEEPING TRACK by Rod O’Donnell

COVID 19 and Sports - When considering the current state of athletics on all levels that Covid 19 has caused, it is important that a great deal of imagination and innovation be used in order to ensure that sports continue; therefore, we must learn, unite, and work very hard to find effective ways to make cross-country appealing and viable, yet make certain that the rules set forth are followed in order to assure that our season continues.

College of William & Mary - ou have accumulated donations with a value of $7 million in order for the track team to continue the excellence that it has attained for your university for decades.

The Ohio High School Athletic Association State Cross Country Championships

The OHSAA State Cross Country Championships is on November 7th at Fortress-Obetz. A pre-season race there was cancelled. As of writing
this no course map of more information about the Championships has been posted. It looks like a great place for stadium events. Coaches and
athletes will have to wait to see a course map before deciding it is a good place for the State Cross Country Championships.

Nancy Clark’s Athletes Kitchen - Nutrition Tactics for Building Muscles

Nancy Clark’s Athletes Kitchen By Nancy Clark MS RD CSSD - Most runners want to have strong muscles to be more powerful, help prevent injuries, and yes, to look buff. They wonder: What can I eat for more muscle, strength and power? The standard belief is eat extra protein, but more fundamental than food is doing some form of resistance exercise. Lifting weights is far more powerful for building muscle than is eating extra protein (unless you have been eating a protein-deficient diet).

Don’t Panic! By Richard Ferguson

I often think about a statement that one of my college cross-country teammates used frequently. He would always say, “The good runner is
always prepared”.

What is Mental Toughness by Richard Ferguson

I like to think of mental toughness as the ability to persevere in the face of challenge and disappointment. It is about being able to perform
to your potential in the face of both pressure from others and the pressure from yourself. It’s about controlling your emotions so your level of emotional arousal is where it needs to be to perform your best.

Granville is Open

For the past nineteen years I have been a member of the Granville Village Council, for two years I served as the Vice Mayor and for two years I served as the Mayor.
While I was the Mayor the Village purchased the Bryn Du Mansion from the David Longaberger family.  The year after we purchased the property I laid out a number of cross country courses of various distances which have been used for Denison University, Granville High School, Newark Catholic High School and the Granville Summer Cross Country Series. RUNOHIO is a member of the Granville Chamber of Commerce and I wanted to share a recent promo about Granville - http://www.runohio.com/index.php/video/category/35-industry/79-granvilleohio
