On The Run with Matt McGowan, September 2017

on 20 September 2017.

Congratulations to everyone who competed in the London IAAF World Championships.  The USA team took home thirty medals including a one-two finish in the women’s steeplechase, with a new American record.  The USA Track & Field National Convention will be held in Columbus, Ohio November 29 - December 3.

Cooler fall weather will soon greet us as we go out for a run or race. After a number of hot, humid days, the cool fall air is just around the corner. This cooler weather combined with the colorful Ohio autumn will allow for some excellent running conditions over the next two months. Many athletes will be testing their summer training in an upcoming fall race. A number of runners will tackle a half marathon or marathon. Good luck!

Numerous junior and senior high school and college runners are starting another cross country season. Many consider cross country one of the purest sports. If not racing yourself, hopefully you will be able to watch an upcoming cross country race and cheer on these athletes. Read Rod O’Donnell’s article Life Lessons from Cross Country - in this issue along with his new Keeping Track article on Cross Country.
