New high school cross country division breakdown draws criticism From TimeReporter.com

Cross country is the only OHSAA sport to determine divisions by taking total enrollment and dividing in half. In other sports, teams are slotted based on the number of boys or girls at the school.

“I am trying not to make this an emphasis with my team, but I need OHSAA officials to know in a public way that this new ruling of combining boys and girls numbers is not fair,” said Dover’s cross country coach, Steve Sparks. “This will spread to all minor sports. It is something that if not stopped, will be a gross injustice.”
