The summer racing season is well underway.  There are hundreds of races being contested this summer. Hopefully, if you are not able to run a local race you will consider volunteering to help with it.  As a race director good help is always welcome.

The 111th Boys and 44th Girls Ohio High School Athletic Association Track & Field Championships

Columbus    June 1 & 2 - The 111th Boys and 44th Girls Ohio High School Athletic Association Track & Field Championships saw numerous outstanding performances, new State Championships records, Division records and Jesse Owens Stadium records. The Ohio Championships is one of the largest High School Track & Field Championships in the country.

According to the 2016-17 High School Athletics Participation Survey conducted by the National Federation of State High School Associations. Girls outdoor Track and Field for the ninth year in a row is the number one sport offering with high school girls with 494,477 participants.  Boys Track & Field  finished second to football with 600,136 participants nationwide.  Also nationwide both boys (16,699)   and girls (16,658) track & field was the second most popular sport offered at the high school level only behind basketball in the number of schools which offer the sport.

  1. Jesse Owens Stadium: It is not The Horseshoe, that historical venue where the meet was held for many years, but it is a first-class facility that honors one of America’s track icons. The former Cleveland and Ohio State legend defied the evil Adolf Hitler and won multiple medals at the Berlin games in 1936.
