On the Run with Matt McGowan

on 25 July 2016.

I am writing this after the Friday US Track & Field Olympic Trials.  There were a lot of outstanding performances.  Emily Infeld after a bronze medal in the 2015 World Championships has been dealing with a few injuries and hadn’t race much this Spring took home runner up honors in the 10,000 to make the Olympic team.  After winning the 2016 NCAA 1500 meter title and the NCAA Indoor 800 meter title as well as the 2015 Pan American Games 800 Gold, Clayton Murphy sprinted to the finish to win the 800 meters.  Molly Ludlow finished .04 seconds out of third in the 800 meters.  Her fourth place finish was her third fourth place finish at a National Championships (2012 Olympic Trials and 2015 National Championships), all combined by less than three tenth of a second.

on 27 June 2016.

The staff of RUNOHIO would like to wish you and your family a happy, healthy and safe 4th of July.

History of the 4th

Variously known as the Fourth of July and Independence Day, July 4th has been a federal holiday in the United States since 1941, but the tradition of Independence Day celebrations goes back to the 18th century and the American Revolution (1775-83). In June 1776, representatives of the 13 colonies then fighting in the revolutionary struggle weighed a resolution that would declare their independence from Great Britain. On July 2nd, the Continental Congress voted in favor of independence, and two days later its delegates adopted the Declaration of Independence, a historic document drafted by Thomas Jefferson. From 1776 until the present day, July 4th has been celebrated as the birth of American independence, with typical festivities ranging from fireworks, road races, parades and concerts to more casual family gatherings and barbecues.
