Columbus, June 7 - Perfect June weather greeted another outstanding field to downtown Columbus in the “Oldest Race in Columbus” – the 38th annual HOKA One One Columbus 10K presented by RUNOHIO. The race again started and finished at the original site of the former Central High School which is now the Center of Science and Industry (COSI), however the course was slightly changed from last year due to the bike trail along the Scioto River being closed due to construction.

A lot of the races are memorial runs and many of those runs are for individuals who were very active in the running community. Two such races this summer are the Bob Lennon Memorial 5km on June 27th - http://runohio.com/index.php/features/940-bob-lennon-memorial and the Jeff McGowan Memorial 5km on August 16th http://runohio.com/index.php/features/922-jeff-mcgowan-memorial-5k
Hopefully, if you are in town you can run these races...
If you are not able to run a race on a given weekend, contact the race director of a race in your hometown to see if they need any help. I am sure most races can use a few good volunteers.
The McGowan Family Track
Circleville City Schools recognized and thanked the McGowan family for their generous donation to the track facilities at the CHS Track Invitational last month. In honor of their continued support, the facility will now be known as The McGowan Family Track. To commemorate this momentous event, a rock displaying the facility's new name has been placed just inside the entrance of the track and field complex.

It amazes me to see the number of races in this issue. A number of communities have more than one race on the same weekend. A lot of the races are memorial runs and many of those runs are for individuals who were very active in the running community. Two such races this summer are the Bob Lennon Memorial 5km on June 27th and the Jeff McGowan Memorial 5km on August 16th Hopefully, you can find a number of races to run.
