June was packed full of track and field competition as the Jesse Owens Memorial Track at The Ohio State University as it was the site of the OHSAA State Track and Field Championships and the USA Junior Track and Field Championships.

The 101st Boys and 34th Girls Ohio High School Athletic Association Track and Field Championships saw numerous outstanding performances, including seventeen State meets records. Read more at –

The final day of the USA Junior Track & Field Championships saw a number of outstanding performances. Ohio’s Jessica Beard won her third 400 meters (52.23) USA Junior Track & Field Championship. Ohio’s Ryan Fleck and Erik Kynard captured the first two places in the high jump. California’s Jordan Hasey who won the 3200 meter California’s State Track and Field Championships in 9:52.13 three week earlier sprinted to her second USA Junior Track 1500 meters Championships as she won in 4:18.44 while Ohio’s Stephanie Morgan finished third in 4:21.52. The country's most prestigious pre-Olympic event, the Olympic Trials is where the roster for Team USA will be selected for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.

Despite one of the warmest days ever in Central Ohio in early June, the 31st annual Columbus 10K drew another outstanding field to downtown Columbus as the runners toed the starting line by the Ohio State House for the “Oldest Road Race in Columbus”.
