The staff of RUNOHIO would like to wish you and your family a Happy and Safe New Year! Hopefully, you have been able to take advantage of the nice weather we have had recently to get in some good winter training.

When you are making your New Year's Resolutions, we hope you will consider volunteering at a local road race. If possible help to sponsor a local race, help a new runner to understand proper training, and helping your neighbor who might need some assistance. If we all do a few kind acts to help others nearby, I am sure 2010 will be a great year for all of us.

Last month the RUNOHIO Women’s Team competed in the USATF National Club Cross Country Championships held in Lexington, Kentucky. As the sponsor of the team I also attended the Championships. The RUNOHIO Team won the 2007 National Championships and placed fifth last year. The team held their own against the best in America finishing a strong fifth again this year. Kara Storage led the RUNOHIO Team with her 10th place team finish covering the hilly 6,000 meter course in 21:09. Leigh Cordes (21:16) finished 15th, Tara Storage (21:42) finished 29th, Melissa Converse (21:56) placed 43rd, Sarah Flament (22:05) placed 48th and Becki Ordway (22:17) placed 61st. Congratulations to everyone who competed. The race has a limit of 800 to allow for athletes to weigh in and lift before the race, which starts at 10:30am. If you would like to run the Arnold 5K, (run/walk only) registration is still open. (For more info- http://runohio.com/read_blog/arnold-5k-%E2%80%93-march-7th-0 All participants get into the Arnold Fitness Expo free after the race (a $10 value). I also plan to start working with Jim Jurcevich of the Columbus Running Company on the 33rd Anniversary Columbus 10K which will be on June 6th. Jim will be the race director again this year and I will be helping him. The race started as the Citizen Journal 10K - 33 years ago. The race is also looking for additional sponsors to help make this event better. If you or your company would like to help sponsor this event, please contact me – runohio@ee.net or Jim at http://www.columbusrunning.com/contactus.htm

If you are from the Columbus area or have run the race in the past, I hope you put this downtown race on your racing calendar for 2010.
