Your Monthly News & Updates. April 2023

With the smell of spring flowers and budding trees, April starts the spring/summer racing season. Athletes will be testing their winter training in an upcoming 5K or 10K and a number of runners will also test their fitness in a spring half marathon or marathon. My first marathon was the Glass City Marathon which used to be held on Father's Day. As a freshman at Ohio Northern University I entered with a few of my track and cross country teammates. My longest run at the time was 12 miles, but was in shape from cross country and track and finished 20th in 2:51. The following year I ran 2:34ish and was fifth, then I won on my third try a year later in 2:27:17 and after my senior year I finished second in 2:24:00.

Small Business Spring!
We all have heard of Small Business Saturday - Let’s Start Small Business Spring! Visit the restaurants/bars and various local businesses in your hometown. Perhaps you can buy local restaurant gift cards for yourself and/or give one to one of the many essential workers in our community providing needed services. Don’t forget to shop at all of the local stores in your hometown. If we don’t, there may not be as many small businesses to go to later this year on Small Business Saturday. Whatever we can do to help each other I am sure it would be greatly appreciated.

The Track & Field season is in full swing. According to latest statistics from the National Federation of State High School Associations Track & Field is the number one participatory sport for high school girls for the eleventh year in a row and number two for high school boys. I hope you have a chance to watch these athletes compete at one of the many local track & field meets.

Granville Ohio is a quaint New England Style town filled with distinctive architecture, historic hotels, numerous restaurants and friendly neighbors.
RUNOHIO is a member of the Granville Chamber of Commerce and I wanted to share a recent promo about Granville –
For nineteen years I have been a member of the Granville Village Council, for two years I served as the Vice Mayor and for two years I served as the Mayor. While I was the Mayor the Village purchased the Bryn Du Mansion.
