When are meets held?
While many meets are on weekdays, there are also large Invitational meets on Saturdays. On weekdays most field events start at 4:30 PM. Races start at 5PM or later. Most officials arrive an hour earlier to carry out pre-event
tasks …a best professional practice. Bottom line, depending upon the host school and its visiting schools there may be some flexibility in arrival times. Officials work only the meets they choose.

What paid assignments are available?
Assignments include starters, clerks, umpires, finish line workers, and field event judges. Saturday meets employ more officials than weekday meets. I'm interested, who can I contact to discuss? Interested parties can contact Jeff Polhemus, a 24 year Ohio Certified
Track and Field Official. Jeff will answer your questions, and guide you through the application and testing process and connect you with a local mentor.
